While the benefits of resveratrol itself are indisputable, the actual effects of the various resveratrol supplements on the market today are another story. The following is our review for Resveratrol Synergy, a relatively mediocre product in our opinion, based on its price and the actual resveratrol content in Jarrow Formula's Resveratrol Synergy.
Resveratrol Synergy Ingredients
In addition to resveratrol, this natural supplement contains grape seed and skin extracts, green tea extracts, Cellulose, calcium phosphate, modified cellulose gum, stearic acid (vegetable source), magnesium stearate (vegetable source) and silicon dioxide, for a balanced combination of antioxidant-rich botanicals.
Despite its ingredients, we do have one concern with Resveratrol Synergy. Jarrow Formula promotes Resveratrol Synergy as having 200mg of resveratrol (3,4,5-trihydroxystilbene) per capsule. However, should you take a closer look at the bottle, it will be evident that each capsule, in fact, has a mere 16mg of resveratrol. The recommended daily dosage for resveratrol is 40mg for optimum effects, which means you'd have to take at least 3 capsules of Resveratrol Synergy a day.
Health Benefits of Resveratrol
Resveratrol's popularity as a natural supplement is due to the phenomenon know as the French Paradox. Dr. Serge Renaud, a scientist from France's Bordeaux University, noted that his nation's people had a lesser likelihood of coronary heart disease then neighboring populations in spite of the French's typically high-fat diet.
Further dietary research suggests that daily consumption of red wine, which is rich in antioxidants and the phytoalexin resveratrol, significantly decreases the incidence of cardiac diseases. Further more, a 2008 dietary study conducted on mice suggested that high doses of resveratrol mimicked some of the benefits of caloric restriction and anti-aging effects.
Buying Resveratrol Synergy
Jarrow Formula's Resveratrol Synergy is available now for the exuberant price of $302.44 for a total purchase of twelve bottles. In our opinion, this price is excessive, especially in comparison to far more potent supplements for sale at a fraction of the cost. Learn more here.
